I listened to the Danish artist Peter Callesen talk about his work, the other day.
I saw a great exhibition of his work last year and found it fascinating, so it was a real pleasure to hear him talk.
His media is paper and he creates the most amazing art works out of one sheet of paper. He never adds more paper, but removes some and uses this to create something else that is amazing and often mind boggling. He has a sense of humour so some pieces make you laugh – others have a deeper meaning and make you stop and think. Some revolve around life and death – and some have religious connotations.
Peter started his “paper work” with a piece of 80g (ordinary photo copy) A4 paper, but now uses a 120g or 150g for his art and often produces very larger sculptures.
