Even in “the bleak mid winter” it is possible to find bits and pieces worth drawing when out walking.
This dried flower head, with its tiny seeds and remnants of delicate flowers is from a type of hydrangea that climbs – and easily covers fences and walls. It is difficult to portray all that is going on here so I have just aimed for the overall impression. I started by collaging some old papers from my stash and splattering brown ink on to the paper. The two collaged pieces reacted differently to the ink – which was a surprise and an extra bonus.
That’s an interesting technique. It indeed seems to capture the gist!
