I had another go at the amaryllis this morning, and thought it would be fun working from black to white instead of the opposite. I decided the technique of covering the page with charcoal and then “finding” the roots with an eraser would be suitable. After the initial coat of charcoal diffferent tones can be made by adding more charcaol or removing it. It was, as is pretty obvious, not easy to make the lines as fine as I would have liked.
Sketchbooks are for trials and errors, and experiments and we learn from these.
