Derwent Inktense pencils and blocks are some of my favourite drawing tools. They can be used dry, as the are, or with water. They contain loads of colour and the blocks, especially, are dynamic to work with.
They differ from other watersoluble pencils, in that once the colour has been wetted it is permanent, and you can draw over the colours again. You cannot do this with other watersoluble pencils without diluting the first layer of colour again. This also means, that once they have been wet, they are permanent when used on fabric. Choose natural fibres like cotton or silk.
I used blocks here for the main coloured areas and pencils for the details. After drawing the flowers I have quilted the pieces using FME and white thread.
