I started my book by making small compositions of ephemera om watercolour paper, torn to size. I had an idea of working mainly with photographic materiale of archtectural details – BUT – things can change. I found the hand written envelopes so beautiful that I wanted these in my book, and together with old postage stamps, they took the lead. So , envelopes, papers found in the street and a shopping list picked up outside the supermarket became the main part of my book. I sewed these bits and pieces on to the paper with simple stitches, together with fragments of embroidered cloth, bought at an Italian market. At this moment it was more than difficult to envisage the flow of the pages – but I was told that it would become apparent at some point!
