The handbag is now nearly finished. There are just some threads to trim and bit of presingto be done. I have very little experience making bags and did have a couple of problems connecting the handle. Slipping it nicely between the embroidery and the lining meant that the holes disappeared, and I think the handle must have been home made, as the holes aren’t quite evenly spaced. I stuck pins through the lining and marked where the holes were, before embarking on the sewing with a strong thread. The next problem was actually sticking a needle through the lining. Years of washing has made the cotton was very difficult to penetrate, and using the old seamed edge of the table cloth didn’t make life easier. “You live and learn” as the saying goes. Anyway it is fun making something from nearly nothing.
